Recap of Ladakh River Festival and What’s In Store for 2019!
The Ladakh River festival is a breathtaking kayaking competition that takes place 11000ft high in the fearsome Indus river. It is the highest kayaking competition in the world. The severe height and weather conditions are just the beginning of the troubles for the kayakers.
Organised by Wet and Wild Explorations, this initiative was taken up to promote and showcase the hidden talent of the local people. Another intention behind organising this festival was to hopefully attract sponsors for the local and native kayakers. We also love to unite white water sport lovers from across the globe and learn from each other!
The competition happened the last 2 times on the bold Indus river. The river here flows over huge boulders creating 3-metre-high waves and terrifying hydraulics that even the world’s finest kayakers have difficulty navigating.
So far the Ladakh River festival has had two successful editions. We are looking forward to another enthralling episode of madness. Here's a recap of what's happened so far and what is upcoming.

We are working hard to curate a river festival which can provide a platform to engage the local community with this beautiful sport and vice versa. As this festival is purely managed and run by volunteers, we encourage as many people to take part as possible in supporting the even. Any kind of support from you for the competition is a great motivation for us and the community. We hope to see a huge turnout this year round! Thanking everyone again for the unconditional support. Let's make this event a grand success!
